Night Will Fall (15)

André Singer’s documentary tracks a film shot by the Allies of Nazi concentration camps in 1945, which was curated by Alfred Hitchcock then abandoned for 70 years. A combination of contemporary interviews and archive footage, the content is harrowing, but also crucial.

Frederick Wiseman offers a four-hour insight into life on campus in 2010, from tutorials on poetry to garden landscaping. Made at a time when the University of California was contemplating cuts, it is as earnest, informative and punishing as a 9am lecture.

Gracie Otto profiles playboy, gambler and prolific stage producer Michael White, who partied with Kate Moss and Johnny Depp and helped bring Rocky Horror and Monty Python to the stage. White has plenty of star friends to pay tribute to him, but remains an evasive subject.
