IT is officially autumn in just two weeks and the dark nights are closing in.
The transition between seasons always marks a significant change in fashion, beauty and lifestyle trends. Now is the time to open your arms to autumn. There’s new colours, new fabrics and new food. Embrace it in all its glory.
I had a meeting with the team from beauty brand Origins for an exclusive peek at what they have coming up for the new season. If you like their bath and body ranges, you’re going to love the new packaging designs that they are bringing out in October. The new abstract linear designs reflect the quality skincare ingredients inside each, so they’ll now look even sleeker on your bathroom shelves. Another exciting launch is their brand new facial moisturiser Three-Part Harmony (£60). It’s a very rich cream for mature skin that will keep your face hydrated and nourished in the upcoming cold weather.
Moskito on Glasgow’s Bath Street is a cosy and relaxed bar with impressive hearty food offerings. They have just turned 15 and I was invited along to their birthday lunch to help them celebrate. They have a brand new cocktail menu to welcome in autumn, with lots of rum delights that will warm you up like you’re really on a Caribbean island. The new Moskito Bite drink has J. Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum shaken with Koko Kanu, orange, pineapple and fresh lime, and it’s a definite must try.

Illamasqua Radiance Veil (£32) is a wonder product that just launched yesterday. The start of the autumn season is the perfect time to switch up your face base makeup- you’re going to want more coverage than in the summer months, but still retain that ethereal glow. Radiance Veil is both a primer and an illuminator- it creates the perfect even canvas for your foundation and its fine shimmer particles make you look lit from within.
I was so pleased to find my perfect autumn handbag so quickly- the Yoshi Whittle Fig Leather Shoulder Bag (£60) is in the colour of the season- Marsala-red and berry tones will be everywhere you look, and that makes this distressed leather handbag the ideal accessory.
On the home front, I’ve been getting ready for the increasingly dark nights by adding some cosy textiles to my living room. A major trend for autumn is for heritage fabrics such as tweed, wool and faux fur. John Lewis have a beautiful grey Ribbed Knit Throw (£80) in their trend-led Croft collection to keep you warm throughout the colder months.
