Bono among celebreties invited to edit Today programme

BONO, the lead singer of the Irish rock group U2, and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, are to guest-edit Radio 4’s Today programme. They are among five public figures who will take over the editor’s chair for a day each, between Christmas and New Year, it was announced yesterday.

The billionaire businessman Sir Richard Branson, Anthony Minghella, the film director, and Baroness Onora O’Neill, the principal of Newnham College, Cambridge, are the other guest editors.

Each will choose some of the issues to be tackled on the programme from 27 to 31 December. Bono will highlight world poverty.
