THE SUN sets over frosty fields in Aberdeenshire this Boxing Day with weather warnings issued across the UK forecasting snow and freezing temperatures.

The snow that is expected to sweep across Scotland tonight followed by ice, has triggered a yellow - “be aware” - severe weather warning from the Met Office.

The alert, in force from 10pm until noon tomorrow, covers the whole of Scotland apart from the Western Isles, Skye, Coll, Tiree and Islay.
