Prince loans paintings to local art show

PRINCE Charles has entered two of his paintings at a local art society's annual exhibition in the Highlands.

The paintings are of the Cairngorms and from a visit to Africa and will be lent to go on show at Strathpeffer Pavilion's annual art fair, from 26 to 29 November.

The prince agreed to lend the paintings after a visit to the pavilion in June. He will be among 100 artists exhibiting.

In August, he entered two different watercolours for the Society of Caithness Artists' 74th annual exhibition.

The prince is one of Britain's most successful commercial artists. Sales of his works have raised more than 3 million for charity over the last 15 years.

The originals are never offered for sale, but when three watercolours came on the market via a private collector, they fetched up to 7,300 at auction.
