Author books a first at age of 93
AT THE age of 93, Grace Fraser has become Scotland's oldest first-time author, after keeping a promise she made to a dying friend.
The former Land Army girl has had two of novels published – and she is not stopping there. The Agatha Christie fan is hoping to have a further three books put into print.
Mrs Fraser, a widow, spent years reading her short stories to residents at the sheltered housing complex where she lives in Forres, Moray. One appreciative resident, who died last year, made Mrs Fraser promise to find a publisher for the stories.
She followed through on the pledge after stumbling across the number for a local publisher while looking for something else in the phone book.
Jacqui Jones, of J&J Publishing in Kinloss, Moray – which normally prints only cookbooks – was bowled over by the work.
As a result, The Jewel Case and Wedding Bells are being launched today.
