Interview: Christopher Brookmyre, author
Date of birth: Do you want my mother's maiden name and sort code while you're at it?
Occupation: Writer.
What sort of school pupil were you? Studious, diligent and nauseatingly well-behaved.
Were your school days the best days of your life? They were vivid, eventful and formative, but I was very pleased when they were over.
What was your first job? I once worked for Scottish Gas analysing infra-red aerial photographs to identify sources of heat loss.
What has been your most unusual job? The above. I discovered dead bodies give off heat for decades after they've been buried.
My biggest achievement so far has been... My first novel still being in print 15 years after its publication.
My worst moment ever was: If four years can constitute a moment, living in Aberdeen.
Three words that sum up my personality are... not really enough.
Favourite place in the world? Seated at my kitchen table with my family.
Who is your best friend? My wife.
What one TV show do you never miss? I'd never miss EastEnders if they stopped showing it tomorrow.
Name one item you could not live without? Pizza.
By what ethos do you live your life? F*** them if they can't take a joke.
