Wonderland tale is now in Doric

One of the most famous children’s books has been translated into Doric.

Aberdeen University academic Derrick McClure has converted the timeless tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the original publication in 2015.

The honorary senior lecturer in the School of Language and Literature spent a year on Ailice’s Anters in Ferlielann.

He said: “I did my best to get everything in and I think I found some kind of equivalent for all the puns and rhymes and literary and historical references.”

The Lewis Carroll tale has also been translated into Gaelic.
