HERE’S a view of Edinburgh Castle you don’t normally see - an aerial vantage point from 2000ft above the earth.

John Lancaster, an architect based in East Lothian, posted the photo on his Twitter account on Sunday.

Taken from his microlight, the image shows Edinburgh Castle and its esplanade, as well as Princes Street, the New Town, Lothian Road, part of the Old Town and Princes Street Gardens.

The Ross Bandstand is also clearly visible, as is Charlotte Square and, in the distance, Grange Cricket Club’s ground just off Raeburn Place in Stockbridge.
