A stunning shot of the Clyde Auditorium and Glasgow Hydro, complete with an atmospheric neon backdrop, has won the University of Glasgow’s photography competition.
The university encouraged students and followers of its social media channels to enter the contest organised to mark the beginning of 2014.
Louise Polson’s winning picture was closely followed by William Newman’s picture of the university chapel and Zo Av’s shot of a cycle race through Glasgow’s west end.
Social Media Officer at the University of Glasgow, Emma Gilmartin, said: “2014 is such an exciting year for Glasgow with the Commonwealth Games and Homecoming at the top of the city’s event calendar. It seemed the perfect opportunity for the University of Glasgow to celebrate the city through photography.
“We asked our students and followers to send us photos that showed off the best of Glasgow. The photos could be more well-known spots around the city, or hidden gems.”
