A look at this year’s Sony World Photography Awards

Waiting for Video...

AS THE deadline for the Sony World Photography Awards draws ever closer, we take a look at some of this year’s images.

The prestigious awards programme features several competitions, which are designed to appeal to entrants of various ages and abilities.

This year’s categories include an open competition for amateurs and enthusiasts, a professional competition, a youth award for entrants under the age of 20, a student focus award for higher education photography students aged 18-28, and a moving image award for entrants that are experimenting with moving image narrative formats.

Winners of the awards will have their work featured across the WPO website, in international exhibitions and in international media coverage.

In addition to this, photographs will also be published inside the annual Sony World Photography Awards book.

Last year’s overall winner was Mitch Dobrowner. His entry featured a black and white photograph of a stormy sky.

There is still a month left to go before the competition closes, but here is a brief look at this year’s images.
