Radio 1’s Chris Moyles has been snubbed by the Sony Radio Academy Awards, after failing to receive a single nomination for the first time in seven years.
Radio 2’s Chris Evans and Absolute’s Christian O’Connell are among those who will battle it out for the coveted breakfast show honours this year.
The pair will also face each other in the music radio personality of the year category at the event, to be held in May.
But Moyles, 38, Radio 1’s breakfast host for more than eight years, failed to make the shortlist for any category for the first time since 2005, as nominations were announced yesterday.
The awards also demonstrate a huge change in fortunes for once-doomed station BBC Radio 6 Music, which finds itself in the running for national station of the year.
It is up against Radio 2 and Kerrang! Radio for the title.
