#1 spot on.

"And we need a renewal of public ownership, public investment and state control. Because sometimes, nothing else works."

How exactly does it work?

Typical BBCist. The reason why we have high energy prices is partly international but mainly because government has prevented us having nuclear electricity at 1.3p a unit & parlty because of the windmillery obligation which pushes up prices another 12%.

Lesley's solution is, typically, no nuclear & more government control.

Lesley forgot to mention Mrs Thatchers disbandment of the British National Oil Corporation. This was done out of sheer political spite as it was a Labour piece of thinking. Look now at what it could have done in 20 odd years. This country might not be in the state it's in with regards to energy if the BNOC was still around. Instead of a State funeral for Thatcher she should be burnt at the stake now.

Little wonder the circulation of the Scotsman is dropping fast - with writers like Lesley Riddoch. Surely those who write such articles should have a basic knowledge of the subject rather that simply holding biased and dogmatic political views?
The last thing we need in this country is more central control - involvement by all means but CONTROL NO!!!!!
