Hibs net £3 million as Fletcher joins Burnley in record deal

THE SCOTSMAN: Steven Fletcher last night left Hibs to sign a four-year contract with Barclays Premier League newcomers Burnley in a deal that has netted the Easter Road club £3 million.

The Scotland striker, voted the football writers' young player of the year for the past two seasons, had attracted a bid from Celtic in the January transfer window which was rejected by Hibs, and with no further interest forthcoming from Celtic under new manager Tony Mowbray, the 22-year-old has opted to link up with Owen Coyle at Turf Moor.

THE SCOTSMAN: Manchester United have confirmed they have signed 23-year-old Ecuador international Antonio Valencia
from Wigan for an undisclosed fee.

VARIOUS: The Herald reports that Paul Hartley has been told he will not be part of Tony Mowbray's Celtic team.

The midfielder is understood to be considering a move to Greek side Iraklis Salonika or a return to Hearts.

While The Express reports that Roy Keane is preparing an offer that would take Hartley to Ipswich.

Melville eager to conclude Dundee bid for Harkins

PRESS AND JOURNAL: Dundee hope to complete the signing of Partick Thistle midfielder Gary Harkins within the next 48 hours.
Dundee are prepared to pay in excess of £100,000 for the 24-year-old, while Partick are holding out for as much as £175,000. The clubs have grown nearer in their valuations and the move will be sealed this week.
