PEOPLE who borrow medical equipment from the council are to receive an improved online ordering service.
Edinburgh's community equipment service loaning facility will launch an e-ordering system which means 8000 people will be able to report faults and ask for replacements over the internet.

It is hoped the new system will cut the amount of time people have to wait for new crutches, wheelchairs and other important health aids.

Council leader Jenny Dawe said it would help ill or disabled people remain in their own home without having to go to hospital.

She said: "Online ordering has already dramatically reduced the amount of paper – and paper chasing – needed at the service."
