EDINBURGH residents are more content with their lives than people living in Glasgow, a new survey has revealed.
A total of 66 per cent of people living in the Capital say they are content with their lives, while only 64 per cent of Glaswegians feel the same.

But although 77 per cent of people in Edinburgh said they were optimistic about their future, only half said they considered themselves to be lucky.

The findings were part of a survey on luck and satisfaction, carried out by the National Lottery.

For god sake. This paper goes on about Glasgow more than Edinburgh and it’s a bloody Edinburgh paper. The bigotry and jealousy is rife here these days.

How are people in Edinburgh content? judging by this paper people here are not content, all we can do is go on about Glasgow trying to get one up on them at ever opportunity. Do you see real capitals such as London, Paris, Dublin etc doing this? No!! Its embarrassing and if it continues Edinburgh should be stripped from its status as Scotland capital as its embarrassing for Scotland and its clearly gotten to year heads.

Every article this paper publishes is either A. a did at Glasgow or B. ranting and raving about how Edinburgh is the capital (which is spelt with a small “c”. Did the reporters here go to school?

This paper and town really need to grow up!!!

Dave in Dalkeith needs to chill out, I think! This is a simple survey (not a terribly scientific one at that), and certainly isn't about stirring up serious rivalry between Scotland's two big cities - well, no more than the endless surveys the Glasgow papers regularly serve up claiming Glaswegians are much friendlier etc!

I can well believe that the populace of Edinburgh is more contented, the vast majority of them generally having a great deal to be content about. The city has an enviable standard of living, and is the economic powerhouse of Scotland, generating considerable wealth and success.

Edinburgh has always struck me as a city more at ease with itself, and less bothered about needing to establish itself as superior to its neighbour at the other end of the M8. It's an altogether healthier attitude, and long may it continue.
