"A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."

Police are keen to establish where the victim was prior to turning up at the nightspot.

Detective Inspector Lesley McDowall said that they were looking to track his movements throughout the evening.

"We know that the young man left his family home around 9 o'clock last night saying that he was heading out for the night," said Det Insp McDowall, "but so far, we do not know where he was between 9pm and when he got to the club at quarter to one in the morning.

"I am very keen to find out who he was with and what he was doing between those times.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who was in Shuttle Street and who saw the disturbance, or who has any information that will help us with our inquiries."
