A MAN playing hit video game World of Warcraft in a Chinese internet cafe has died after spending 19 hours in front of a computer without a break.

Wu Tai, 24, collapsed at the cafe in Shanghai after a violent coughing fit while playing the role-playing game.

Gamers sitting near Mr Wu in the room called emergency services after noticing the man fall ill.

Despite fellow gamers’ attempts to help Mr Wu, he died after slumping in his chair. Paramedics removed his body after failing to resuscitate him. One witness said there was blood on Mr Wu’s handkerchief.

A local police officer said: “An autopsy will determine the cause of death but there seems little doubt his playing on the computer for 19 hours instead of resting contributed to his death.”
