As I just moved from Glasgow to Leith, I joined this practice for a checkup. First time a dentist ever took xrays of my teeth, and they discovered a hidden hole inbetween the teeth. I felt a problem there for years, but previous dentists never took it serious.  As I am a joobseeker at the moment, everything was free of charge for me, xrays, cleaning of my teeth , one extraction and a filling for nothing, how good is that I love the NHS. The practice was very busy, but very modern and I was treated with respect, filling done very efficiently.Great late evening hours, I went there after 7 at night. What I like most is that they have someone employed only to explain the treatments, options and costs ( although i decided for the zero cost one as a jobseeker ).
My 2 children loved the dentist too (her name was Natalia I think. They got a special prevention programme from the Scottish Government there, free toothbrushes and varnish for the wee ones. I would recommend them to anyone.
As I do not really like dentists, I hesitated to give 5 stars, but if you consider what they did for nothing, free text reminder, call back only 4 days after I contacted them online, explanations etc I think they deserve it in a way.

Hello,
I tried to take an appointment, I have registered online two days ago and still nobody called me.
I just call this morning to take an emergency appointment and they said to go to the hospital !!!!
Receptionist was in hurry and not very polite, I am not very convinced but I will try it...if they will call me

Having not visited a dentist for over 10 years I was very nervous about my first visit back. I chose Ocean Drive as it was close to my house. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist and asked to fill in some forms. As I was early to the appointment I was seen early. The dentist was a female (I didn’t catch her name unfortunately) and she was great. Very efficient. Luckily I had no problems and just needed a cleaning but she made me feel very comfortable and was very friendly. As my cleaning was only £10 I left feeling very happy.

After being disappointed by several private dentists over the past years, with a number of them failing to treat severe gum problems, I tried this NHS practice next to Ocean Terminal , reluctantly.
The dentist here resolved all of my problems that previous dentists had seemed reluctant to do. Throughout all treatments I have felt comfy with the team here who have always talked me through all procedures. Everything was pain free, smooth and efficient.
I would highly recommend this practice to anyone and have no doubts that the service that I have received is second to none. I received a lot of NHS treatment free of charge because I am currently unemployed, and paid 1 filling privately because I did not want a metal filling.

Highly Recommended.

I have been attending Ocean Drive dentist since 3 years now, and had an awful lot of work done there by 3 different dentists, mostly on the NHS, but also some private cosmetic work. I totally agree a previous review that they set themselves high standards, also they offer night appointments, prompt emergency appointments, and a very efficient service. My family and I has tried many other dentists before, but we never had the feeling like at Ocean Drive, that we get an honest service. They are NHS and quite busy, so some appouintments may be quick, but never really rushed in a bad way. Several dentists specialise in different things and work together, also very clean and modern.

My first experience with this dental practice was around september 2010, and i see myself and my family on some of the reviews i read here, the staff has definitely a bad attitude, you are rushed through the treatment, the results were poor, and one this first experience that consisted on several appointments which included a denture with a few teeth (that i never been able to use it as it was unbalanced), we had to under the rudeness of the receptionist prove through the pin pad machine receipt from weeks before that we had paid, as she insisted in charge us twice for at least two treatments. And my second experience was today as i had an emergency and no other dental clinic would see me today as i am registered with them. And today the visit just confirms to points above (apart from the receptionist, that was nice), all the rest was pretty much the same, included a not even disguised attitude of pressure on you to spend your life savings on a couple weeks. As a conclusion i would like state that the clinic looks good but as far as I’m concerned they are not touching my mouth again.

Contrary to the adverse comments about the reception and other staff above, I have to say that everyone I have dealt with there are really nice, friendly people. I asked to bring forward an appointment today and it no drama whatsoever.

The Ocean practice is a funky, cool and businesslike sorta place, what more could you expect????

BTW: I’m completely terrified of going to the dentist, yet this place is calm and efficient, but with a human touch that is both uncommon and was sadly lacking in the three other practices I visited when looking for a dentist. I felt confident that the Ocean people knew what they were doing, are principled pragmatists and set themselves high standards.

Although the dentists are very nice and professional reception staff (including the practice manager) are the usual bullies who behave as if they own the place. It spoils the whole experience and the owner should be more careful with the people he hires.

I have been recommended this place by a friend who is a nurse and always was phobic about her teeth.
I had to wait half an hour for my appointment, but it was worth it. I was accepted as an NHs patient for a free checkup, and could get free treatment because of my young baby.
Instead of the nhs metal filling, I preferred to pay something for a white one.
excellent service, I had the first painfree injection im my life.

After I suffered from my teeth for years, I had toothaches on a regular basis, this dentist was recommended by a good friend who is a GP. I registered online on their website, and it took 10 days until I was contacted by phone. Then I got an appointment quickly and saw a German dentist who was very friendly and competent. He took xrays and examined my teeth, then explained my problems very carefully and gave me several options. Before this, I never understood how things go wrong with teeth, now I have the feeling everything is under control. I went through a complex treatment plan with 3 extractions, gum surgery, 5 fillings and finally I got new teeth. Due to my financial situation I opted for NHS treatyment which means metal fillings on the back teeth. I was very pleased by the timely treatment, the practice is open 13 hours per day!, and by the professional and very reassuring manner of the the dentist and the lovely nurse. I would recommend this practice to anyone, it is very clean , and you even get free appoiuntment reminders by text message.

I have been there again, after 1 year for a checkup ( as I had forgotten the previous one).
They were very understanding and friendly and helped me with my false teeth . When I asked for other options I was offered an implant , I always thought they were unaffordable, but this was a lot less than expected.
I had the implant tooth placed by Dr Martin, it was not unpleasant at all, and now I have a real, totally fixed tooth again !! For me, that was magic. highly recommended.
