I first joined Greens in 2005 which is when it was a premier club.  I have now left as it has had a dramatic downturn.  The club is dirty, and when this is discussed with the club management, nothing is done.  The customer service is poor, reception staff to busy talking to each other to deal with queries, gym floor staff too busy trying to sell personal training sessions to offer constructive off the cuff advice.  I asked one PT (in a greens uniform) if my posture was correct and I was advised that if I was looking for advice I would need to book a session with him at £30 an hour.

The classes are cliquey with the instuctors having their groupies - i tried to book into classes at 0630 a week before the class only to be told that the class was full, when i enquired as to when was the best time to book i was told by the girl on reception that M*** has his group and it's never usually more than them that get in!

Used to have an excellent Zumba instructor but she has now left.  The aerobics instructor is surly, the spin instructor is vain - not a club focused on members at all.

Avoid!!

Great Gym for Cardio and Swimming – but if your a serious weights buff don’t touch with a barge poll – seriously in need of an upgrade. Gym users have absolutely no idea how to behave – benches not wiped down dumbells not returned to proper places etc

I don`t generally write reviews, but I have been so impressed with Greens I wanted to give positive feedback.
*The staff are all excellent in that they are helpful and friendly without being overzealous and in your face.
*The swimming pool is lovely as is the spa, sauna and steam room, all of which are well maintained and kept immaculately clean.
*The classes at greens are fantastic in that the range offered is really diverse and all the teachers in the ones I attend (Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates) are highly knowledgable and professional.
*The gym has excellent facilities, and particularly as it is divided into two areas, it is user friendly and not at all intimidating to use.
*The age range of the people that attend Greens is really diverse. The ages in the classes I attend range from really young people to some in their 70`s and everyone is made to feel welcome and included.
*Greens also has a positive attitude towards people with disabilities. My son who has a disability has been a member of Greens for some years and has been made to feel welcome by all the staff who have always been respectful and helpful towards him.
*I also feel that the fees at Greens are reasonable for the excellent facilities as well as the range of classes on offer.

My review of greens at newmarket road.
Gyms are all alike they all run classes ect, most people go to gyms to get fit or lose weight to do this you need confidence in yourself + the people that are teaching you this is where greens comes into its own from your first point of contact the reception staff are all friendly and helpful the trainers/teachers are very approachable .
I have been a member now for a few years, if anyone had said to me that I would enjoy being a member of a health club and still enjoying it a few years on I would have laughed in there faces. But greens has been very good for me, always helpful staff on hand, to help with your choice of work out whether trying a class or a workout in the gym.
Thank you Greens. Bab

Very poor service, outdated equipment, uninterested staff and overpriced in terms of value....

Just joined Greens gym and have to say that im very happy with my choice, i can workout in a relaxing atmosphere and dont feel like im being stared at, everyone's really friendly and there's always someone about to give you advice if you need it.
I also like the fact that the cardio area is seperate from the Weights area!

Nice to have a costa coffee place too and hopefully get into a Zumba class and give that a go! :)

I've been at Greens now for the last couple of months and I'm really impressed to see how the club is changing.

Already there is a great deal of new equipment for members both in the gym and exercise studios as well as some new classes including Zumba!

Also really friendly welcome every time I come in. My friend recommended Greens to me and I'm really pleased they did.

I joined Greens just over a month ago and have enjoyed it so far. The price isn’t too bad for off-peak and I manage to get in about 3 times a week. I don’t feel like people are staring at me there, which is good, and I can just get on and do my own thing. My induction was friendly and I didn’t feel out of my depth even though my fitness level was awful. Best thing? I get to sit in the spa after a workout. Worst thing? The spa goes off after 6 mins for its rest cycle!

The Edinburgh Branch of Greens has been open for around 6 years and recently updated all of its CV equipment.

With new running, cycling, spinning bikes and rowers the club is perfect for people wanting a work out before or after work.
The gym is popular with students as it offers off peak memberships as well as a small brasserie.

The gym is open 7 days a week and there's always a friendly face at the front door. The instructors are keen to help and offer advice all the time as well as encouraging you to work that little harder.
