Great day out for the children  though prefer if the animals had more freedom of bigger cages

I live in Edinburgh and I have been to the zoo numerous of times, but my last time there I was really disappointed in the size of the enclosures of the animals, especially the big cats! Edinburgh zoo need to change this! They are beautiful animals and deserve soo much more! The other thing that's annoying is it soo damn expensive, expensive to get in, the cafe's are really expensive! So if your thinking of visiting the zoo bring a packed lunch and save some pennies. The zoo is worth going to though it's just a shame about the size of some of the enclosures although since I've been there a few enclosures have been made bigger I think. Loved the red panda if it's still there, soo cute! Wolves are amazing too!

Not as good as it was when i was younger. penguins were funny though well worth it for that , toilets at entrance were stinking and hated taking the kids through the shop as most of the stuff in there was WELL OVERPRICED ,

I love a day out at the zoo and Edinburgh zoo is no exception. Well laid out with ample enclosures for their animal residents. Last time we went, we seen the rhino’s wrestling! It was spectacular!

Fantastic family day out for all ages. Great tip: Start at the top and weave your way down, finishing up at the new, amazing Chimp compound. I love it so much, I'm becoming a Member so I can take my grandchildren there more often. Always entertaining, educational and seems to get better with every visit. The new play area beside the Penguin enclosure was a great idea, as it helps to provide some rest for weary adults! A healthy outdoors venue that is still enjoyable during bad weather times as there are many opportunities to get shelter. Noticed the gift shops are now selling pocket-money souvenirs that are really good value for money. All in all, this is the best family venue in Edinburgh and worth every penny! Can't wait to see the Pandas.

I had a fun day with the family in the Zoo last week. The place was fine although it goes under some renovations. They promise a lot after this renovation and I am quite optimistic. They even gave me one free adult ticket for next visit.

The best part of the trip was the penguins marsh. Around noon, penguins marsh from their pool back to their sheds. I think that was the best action of the day.

I went here when we went to edinburgh for the weekend i have to say what a specil fantastic zoo loads of great animals and a fantastic bird sanctuary stunning colourful birds and you can buy food etc and the birds come to you to have a feed. I absolutely loved it here as everyone else looked like they were too i would highly reccommend taking all ages of people here as there is something for everyone.

One of the times i visited was when poor Mercedes the polar bear was still here and that poor old soul was one of the most miserable looking bored creatures I have ever seen.
They are particuarly bad for breeding animals to work as a vistor draw and then culling them. google red river pigs edinburgh to find out more on that one.
Only this year it is working on getting the giant pandas in to be a real money spinner yet at the same time it has been threatened with the removal of its operating licence after inspectors found it had failed to address a series of animal welfare and safety failings that date back at least five years.
At the same time it is spending a fortune on pandas: the big cat enclosure is in a terrible state of disrepair; the sea lion enclosure has several animals were suffering from eye infections; and the main food store was infested withvermin.
In additon to that just what you need when bringing in the worlds rarest bears with tricky needs - problems with the zoo's veterinary hospital.

All of the above inspection findings are fully verifiable via freedom of information documents and other publications.

I love zoos and Edinburgh zoo is one of the best I have been to. Situated a bus ride away from the centre, it is conveniently located. You can spend a whole day there and it is a great attraction for all the family! I went there with my boyfriend and even though it was in September and raining, we still had an amazing time.
