I am so fed up of this beach, its absolutely disgusting! It is littered with Dog dirt, litter, cigarette end, broken bottles and dogs running about off their leads!

I regularly walk along the prom with my young children and always find it very stressful having to constantly tell them to avoid the dog dirt. The council really do need to take some action.

lots of rubbish like bottles and other debris along the beach, and could do with a good rake but apart from that the sand isnt too bad .

Lovely place to come for a walk along the promenade, grab a hot chocolate or, if you are brave enough, go for a dip in the water! Very popular, especially in warm(er) weather, so avoid if you dont like people/dogs/children!

I like the end towards the water works , when the tide is very low it's even better as we walk up to the water works , and around them....It's very popular with dog walkers though , myself included , and is great to give your dog a good run . I don't go up the town end much , always more crowded etc . There's the end of Braid Burn (I think) there too , handy to get the sand and salt off boots or the dog.

The day after the night of full moon the sea at Portobello shows its mysterious face to the few strollers and dogs on its sands in the gloaming air. Great place for a family weekend relaxation, beach picnics on worm days or a bit of swimming or rowing if you have the guts! There is an amusement park, a couple of sweet cafes and bars and a sports centre with swimming pool. As we walk towards teh horizon our eyes spotted some funny faces in the sand - fancy children's drawings.

It’s a popular misconception that a beach can only be enjoyed in the sun as this place proves.

It’s perfect for windy walks, sometimes even rainy walks, at the end of the day the best thing about the beach is the sea-view and the view from here is very nice.

What’s more you can even indulge the inner child in you by popping into the amusement arcades and play on the penny falls, one armed bandit or whatever takes your fancy.

A lovely clean, sandy beach. Great for people watching at the weekends.

This is a nice beach.

Sadly the promenade the is pretty much derelict. There’s a play park and a few amusements but it so much potential that hasn’t been met.
