I’m so glad I found El Barrio. For so long now I have wandered the cold streets of Edinburgh, forlornly searching for a place where I could pay top dollar to dance to shitty pseudo-Latin pop wedged up against groups of bald fifty-year-old men with overbearing body odour. My eyes, mouth, and body language may all be saying ‘no’, but dammit, these guys saw right through my feminine posturing and went and groped me anyway. And nothing says top night out like being molested by a sweaty-headed sleaze who’s old enough to be your father, right? I WILL BE BACK.

Incredible rude staff and managers do nothing about it. You can get thrown out for nothing, one guy got kicked out just for asking more paper in the toilet. Racism all around the place. Very crowded, hot and expensive beer. Not recommended.

....they do not allow gay people in! oh well, sorry, yes, they do allow all people in but if you are a gay men couple you will not be able to dance with each other, however if you are a lesbian couple, you can dance (but don´t you dare to kiss or you will be thrown out!!!) ...why do they used tags as “friendly”? friendly to whom?
It had to be a latin place the one showing such behaviour…I have never seen anything like this in Edinburgh, I am not saying this is the only place that will do something like that, but definately the only one I have seen it. I have been here for 8 years now, and this kind of things makes me ashame of being latin myself.

In Edinburgh there are not too many place where you can find latin music and El Barrio is one of the most famouse and nice place where you can dance salsa and have a salsa lesson for free. Nice and friendly place to have a really good mojito !!

Really great wee place with atmosphere. The bar staff serve the best mojito in Edinburgh, and after you have had a couple of them I can guarantee you will be up and dancing to the brilliant salsa music.
El Barrio is one of these places where everyone is having a great time. It can get quite busy at the weekends but the atmosphere is great!

This little club is a gem of Edinburgh. For a really fun night out head to El Barrio. Great mojito's and tequilla for a good price. Entry into the club is very reasonable, but watch out you will be dancing all night. Great music which your dancing feet cannot resist. It great to go to a place where everyone is dancing and having a great time, it does get very hot though. It also offers Salsa classes and has quite an international scene. Head there on a friday or saturday night for party you wont forget!
