RoscoUK last updated on 30 July 2012: The food was fantastic! Service was good, very polite maybe a little slow when we were there but still the food is well worth it!

Without doubt the worst place I've ever eaten in in Edinburgh!  We arrived at 2pm, waited 20 mins for a drink, then another 20 mins for the pizza.  It was cold so had to be sent back.  Ordered coffee which didn't arrive so had to reorder - the waitress then said it wouldn't be charged for.  At 3.45 we had only had one course and finally got coffee and the bill.  The coffee was on the bill so that had to be sent back!    There's a lovely Thai across the road which is definitely worth going to but avoid Prezzo like the plague!!

It should not be too difficult to prepare Italian food to an acceptable standard. Regrettably, Prezzo managed to cock up the simplest of dishes on a number of fronts. Things began poorly when from a table of 7 all but two of the wine glasses on our table were not clean, one having a previous customer's lipstick remaining on the rim. The pepper grinders were empty.

Three of the four adults at our table had calamari which was at best average, not chewy but not crisp and hot. The King Prawns in a tomato sauce was at best tepid and at worst bland, accompanied with two dry pieces of bread. The only starter of merit was the deep fried mozzarella.

I could not sample my main course as fusilli with Italian sausage was off. I made a snap choice for spaghetti bolognese which was a mistake. There was a tiny portion of bolognese hidden beneath a mound of barely warm spaghetti. Others at the table expressed similar views as to the temperature, quantity and excitement of the dishes. One of our party had wild mushroom Girasloa the best part of which was the mushrooms.

Overall the meal was a tremendous disappointment, despite the friendly waitress being pleasant and an excellent location. However, at best the food was far below average and I would not eat there again. When entering Prezzo we passed a packed and vibrant (for a Tuesday night) Loch Fyne Oyster and entered a dismal and nearly empty Prezzo. I now know why. I'd avoid.

We went here on a whim for dinner on Saturday and it was great. When we arrived, they were full up, but the lovely waitress took my number and called me within half an hour to advise that a table was ready for us. The food was delicious and highly recommended. My companions’ dishes were all wonderful. Prices are reasonable too. We each had a glass of house wine, one white, one red and one rose. All were pretty rough, so we’ll have to move up the wine list next time!

After losing my booking, and therefore refusing to seat my group on a Friday evening, they would do nothing about the fact that their mistake meant I was unable to use my clubcard tokens before they became invalid.

Staff were rude, sloppy, and very unhelpful about the problem. Certainly will not be bothering to visit again.

Reasonable Italian menu, value for money. Chain restaurant, but nice interior and not a formulaic feel to it - open and airy, pleasant views over Newhaven and Fife. Good location with ample parking. Restaurant 40% full on a mid week visit. Most main meals prepared in house, but suffers from some freezer standard dishes though. On visit ordered Pane con cipolla as starter - garlic pizza bread with caramalised onions and mozzeralla, shared for two. Two pizzas tried - one with goats cheese and mozzeralla, grana padano and gorgonzola, other with mushrooms and fresh thyme. Both nicely cooked and good flavours - but pizzas not pre-cut though and wasn't an easy dough base for the table knives to get through - quite 'chewy', suggesting over worked dough. One (large) glass red house wine and one small bottle sparkling mineral water - total bill of £27. Look out for offer vouchers online though and this would be a good venue for a casual meal. Should mention also the service was good, from unhurried staff nice and attentive but not overbearing. Suggest a good bet for most diners - family, groups or couples.

This is a fantastic Italian restaurant with a good selection on the menu and large portions!

I had a Starter, Main and Drink voucher for £10 from the website so my boyfriend and I took one each with us. We had a lovely table next to the window with a nice view of the water etc.

I had cheese garlic bread which was half a pizza with lots mof garlic butter and some mozarella cheese which was nice enough and my boyfriend had fried mozarella (2 semi circle pieces) with a rich tomato sauce dip.

For main I had a margherita pizza which was nice but I'd say I'd tried nicer pizzas elsewhere. There are some nice sounding ones on the menu though so I may try the prosciutto and mushroom one in future. My boyfriend had a grilled goats cheese salad which looked and tasted really nice and came in a large bowl and was a good sized portion!

We had a house white and red wine as well which both tasted good.

I'd definitely go back, they have vouchers a lot on their website so it's a nice place to go without being really expensive.

An italian restaurant in a cracking location. If you’re lucky, you can get a seat with a view over Newhaven Harbour, looking out towards the Bridges. Or, on a nice day, a seat outside (whoooooo)

Menu is mainly Pasta, Pizza, Salad and Chicken, but don’t be put off by that - they also do a cracking Red Pesto & Mozzarella Burger.

Go on, try it, you know you want to…
