My husband surprised me by ordering our wedding cake from this little shop. I wasn't so sure of it until I had my first bite. Oh it was delicious and light as air cake with cream frosting and glazed fruit on top. A few weeks later I requested a cake for my birthday from the same shop, and it was again divine!

I always want to pop in for a tart or a small treat, and they have plenty of variety to choose from.

WARNING: They ONLY accept cash, no cards or checks. But, there is an ATM just around the corner, so it is not so bad.

I also have to agree with the comment about the lady behind the counter, she always seems to be in a bad mood. The men working in the kitchen on the other side were a delight to talk to and watch while working.

We had the pleasure of trying a wedding cake from this shop at the weekend so we had to pop along to their shop to try out their various small cakes.

The shop is a little hidden away, certainly not something you’ll see from the main road and despite the lady behind the counter seemingly having a bad attitude (she looked like she was in a bad mood) the cakes are divine.

As other people have mentioned half of the shop is a shop and the other half is a bakery so everything is super fresh.

As a note there was also a Polish lady behind the counter (as there is with almost every shop in Edinburgh) so if you’re Polish that’s good for you :)

We bought 7 cakes and a sandwich for about £8.50. Bargain!

This place is a hidden treasure that once you find you'll just keep going back! The cakes are amazing and the prices are brilliant for what you get.
We've ordered both a birthday cake and Christmas cake from here this year and both were ready next day and could feed twice the number of people it was for. All our friends and family were amazed by the quality and flavours.
Real pedigree, real pride, real baker! Yum!!!

I have been getting our birthday cakes from here for many years ( over 10 years) and have never been disappointed. We normally get the fresh cream and fruit on our's. But you can add a layer of jam or custard if you like. They come in different sizes and shapes. They can add a picture of your choice at a small charge, if you dont just want chocolate messageon the cake. My son has had cartoon charathers, where for mile stone birthdays i have had photos printed on the cake. I just cant wait for the next birthday to order one of their lovely cakes.

A proper old fashioned italian bakery - as the name suggests. It says on the sign outfront its been opened since 1979 and I would believe that - its got that old established feel to it.

Rows of delicious looking cakes in the windows, not just greggs type cakes either - Im talking strawberry tarts the size of your head, chocoltae eclairs that could burst from the amount of cream and some sort of hard chocolate looking chessecake tartin concoction.

Its got the real proper bakery feel in here and you can actually see through to the other room where the bakers are actually baking the stuff fresh - I could even see some sort of cakes rising in their oven, delish! Beautiful cakes in here although they also do panini's and coffee's its a shame theres nowhere to sit in here though. They even give you you're cakes in the proper cake box - lovely!

Absolute gem on Albert Street just off Leith Walk, the selection of cakes is amazing and they also offer a good selction of Italian snacks. I was also surprised at how reasonable prices were. Half of the premises is the shop and the offer half is the bakery so it looks like most of the goods on offer are home made.
