This place came recommended so I was really looking forward to trying it out. So disappointed! Service was fast and fried rice was good but pepper and chilli pork was more than 50% fat. I'd have returned it but it was bucketing rain out. There are plenty of other, better, chinese food places in the fountainbridge area!

I agree with most comments here, this place has excellent traditional food. And, unlike what it states in ‘more info’ at the top of this page, this place is actually very affordable, if not cheap. The staff is friendly and efficient. It does get a bit crowdy at times. If you like a more relaxed atmosphere, the tranquil Szichuan restaurant hidden near the Cameo also offers traditional Chinese food. http://www.qype.co.uk/place/72327-Szechuan-House-Chinese-...

This place is very local to us, and we use it for carry-out and for sitting in. It’s always got Chinese customers which is usually a good sign. We have travelled a few times to China and can say this is by far the most authentic Chinese food we’ve had outside of China.

When we had friends over from China we took them here and they were overjoyed, telling us it was by far the best food they had tasted in Europe – they were on a long business trip all over Europe – and they agreed that the food is thoroughly authentic Chinese.

The place is clean and bright, but not at all decorative. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the prices are excellent value.

The dumplings are great, especially the fried ones with crispy edges, and we love the chilli dishes too. You’ll find stuff on the menu you’ve never heard of – just order it and experiment a little. Drink the Tsing Tao beer for an authentic all-round experience. Gang Bei

I have no choice but have to score them one star. The food were obviously horrilabe, TOO much msg, make me feel sick. I have ordered some dumpling, but was over steam, and all dumpling were tasteless and looks very disgusting while it presented to me. RIbs were overcooked, and only taste of msg. My collegue and me both feel so disappointed, it was worst dinnig experience we ever had…please avoid to go there.. even through you have no choice.. there are much better place than them at fountain bridge etc nando, pizzahut…

I've been this place twice, top class food! Freshly new tasty Chinese cuisine to me but was told that's actually traditional, the real taste of Chinese food, amazing! Warmly serviced like guesting in a oriental family. And, you won't believe it when you get the bill. Don't know why Chineselover is their regular customer with so many issues, but I will be this one's 'common guest' for sure!
