The food at Amarone is excellent. I went on a busy Saturday night where the tables were all booked out, the seats at the pizza bar were full and the bar was almost constantly filled as well, and everybody I heard said that their food was top-notch.

The service was friendly and efficient, and the free Limoncello shot that comes for everyone on your table with the bill is a nice touch. The food may be slightly on the expensive side, but you must remember that you get what you pay for.

The only thing I could find fault with is the music being played – the restaurant is sufficiently busy for there not to be a need for background music.

I’m bumping this up to three stars because it was a beautiful day and I sat outside.

I ordered the duck, which, according to the menu is served pink inside. Mine was about 15-20 mins past pink. It was tough and grey, which for the price I paid for it, is inexcusable.

That said, the menu had many other options I would be willing to go back and try (at least to give it one more chance). The real gem to this restaurant’s crown is a lovely outdoor sitting area on George Street, where I was able to sit back, sip my wine, and watch the rush hour crowds scramble past.

I also had very kind, while somewhat slow, service.

All in all, I’d try it again if someone I was with wanted to go, or I didn’t have another new and exciting place in mind.
