This was the highlight of our holiday. It really is a cool show, and live all the better. And although my husband doesn’t speak english he was just as excited as I was.
We caught an evening show with fireworks, and it has its own charme with the images they throw at the castle wall.

This is a classic tourist event and most people will enjoy the scale and spectacle of it. Although tickets sell out early on , it is usually possible to get hold of some nearer the time as well. There are different themes each year , with visiting bands from other countries, but pride of place goes to the massed pipes and drums. And it is hard not to be moved by the sound of the lone piper from high up on the castle battlements. Take a cushion and a plastic mac to cover all eventualities, but you are guaranteed a night to remember.

A great event. for tourists and locals alike. Wrap up warm though as it’s always cold. great attractions such as pipebands, dancers and bands.

Great for tourists - held up at the entrance to the castle and can be quite cold so wrap up well. Tickets not too expensive but sell out early in the year. Seating is on tiered platform seating and it can be a bit shakey if the wind gets up especially if you are up at the top. a very good night out if you are patroitic. Well worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.
