Paul Slifer’s work is amazing! He did my outline about twenty minutes and then spent a great deal of my two hours working on the details. It is ABSOLUTELY the highest detail of work! My tattoo is St. Christopher and the baby Jesus it looks great and I am treating it with respect…. Greg McIntosh

This tattoo studio is second to none in regards to quality of work from Paul.

Loved Red, Hot and Blue Tattoo, I went last Thurs for my first ever Tattoo and they did everything possible to make me feel at ease, and not only did I come away with an awesome tattoo I really enjoyed the whole experience, and I cannot wait to go back for my next one!!
Thanks Ian for being so nice and thanks for the orange Ribena :-)
Would 100% recommend this place

Really surprised by some of the previous reviews from other women on here, as my experience is hugely different to the ones detailed previously.
Though it can be intimidating going into an entirely male environment, especially within a tattooing environment, and I would be the first person to complain if I had some sort of Miami Ink neanderthal sleazing on me during my tattoo, I found my experience of Red Hot and Blue to be a positive one, free from any macho posturing that others seem to have experienced.
Granted the receptionist was a bit bristly when I first went in, but meeting the artists immediately put my mind at ease and gave me confidence that I'd come to the right place.
I was tattooed by Jason who was very friendly, and enthusiastic about the simple piece that I wanted done. The tattoo was done very quickly, which meant it didn't cost nearly as much as I was expecting, and the result far exceeded my expectations.
I have been back again, and was again thrilled with the work, and I would consider the artists to have behaved as perfect gentleman (though I did grow up with 2 brothers, so maybe I am more used to the opposite sex than some of the other reviewers).
I'm definitely going to go back for more work, and I would highly recommend the studio, whether you are male or female, you'll get top quality work in a clean environment, and decent conversation, if you're willing to accept that you're at a tattoo studio, not the dentist.

Wanted to leave zero stars, but apparently you aren't allowed to do that?!
Disgusting customer service. I was appalled by the arrogance and disregard for people's feelings. Took the time to write to the owner to express concerns and he didn't even have the courtesy to reply. Can't comment on the artwork because the appointment has been cancelled. Having read the other reviews it seems this behaviour isn't a one off, I have had friends who have called to have a chat about getting work done and have decided not to due to the bad attitude of the staff. Doesn't seem like very good business sense to me. The assumption is that people would be supported and made to feel comfortable, especially when getting their first large piece, not humiliated and embarrassed. I have warned people about this place and will continue to do so. Shocking.

I went to RH&B for my second tattoo, only a small one -- I was with two friends, a bloke and a girl, also being tattooed. My female friend was having two large tattoos done on her feet so all in all we were there for several hours. We were all tattooed by the same tattooist, Sarah, who was lovely -- we had a great chat with her and she didn't seem fazed by the fact that we all came along together/were hanging around for ages etc. Her tattoos were all really beautifully done, we were all chuffed with them, and the price was great too -- Sarah had also squeezed us in at v short notice which was great of her.
HOWEVER, when we came back upstairs to reception to pay/buy Tattoo Goo, it was a different story!! Two of the guys who worked there -- both tattooists I think though one was obviously on reception duty that day -- were REALLY unpleasant and sexist to my female friend and I. They were having a great chat with our male friend but whenever we spoke or tried to join in we were subjected to sexist crap from them. We were told we looked really tired from being tattooed and we obviously "couldn't take it" because we were women; they seemed to have some in-joke they kept referring to whenever we spoke, too. They also proceeded to explain tattoo aftercare to us literally in words of one syllable even though we told them we'd both been tattooed before and knew what to do. They were incredibly patronising and rude.
I'm really torn because I now want further tattoos and don't know whether to go back to RH&B or not. Sarah was fab, the studio is really clean and pleasant to be in and the tattoos she did for all of us kick ass. But I really don't want to be subjected to crap from the male tattooists again. It sucks!!

OK, I have to say, I have been to this shop for all of my tattoos.the tattoos are amazing regardless who is doing them.with regards to the sexist comments it is clear to me that some people just don't have a sense of humour, I'm pretty sure if I was in any shop and there were comments made that were apparently so sexist and therefore offensive I would leave, therefore I believe that they must have had some idea that they were joking.but still had nothing better to do than to write on sites like this!it baffles me.also if this happened in for example 2009 why has it taken till 2010 to write the review, this site has been up for longer than this! I don't get it?
the shop does great work and the people there are friendly and welcoming.if this isn't the case then they may appreciate saying something when you initially get offended.just a thought

I have done my tattoo in this studio in 2009 and also suffered sexist comments; he suggested that some girls can't handle tattoos (Girls like me!). Also I was a little annoyed to witness the two of them aggressively gossiping about a girl while I was waiting to do my tattoo.
I came to my appointment to check his design first (Jason) and, when I mentioned that I wanted to discuss about it because I had found something different; he mentioned that I left for the “last minute”. But I was on time for my appointment and I have been told that I could discuss it on the day if necessary; it is my body after all and it wasn’t a major change, just some details!
At the end the tattoo was OK and it was what I wanted, but due to the treatment received, I am never coming back to this studio again.
Thinking back, maybe he got offended because I did not use his design, which wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what I had in mind. Maybe that’s why he disrespected me, who knows. Just one advice: girls, be aware!
