The staff are friendly, however the facilities are a bit grimy but nothing that would put me off. My problem was the noise, when you are lying in the tank you can hear traffic, talking, hoovering and walking around. I was unable to relax and enjoy the experience.

There are two reasons that my husband and I visit this spa – the location and the price. It’s in Stockbridge, where we live; only a fifteen minute walk downhill from Princes Street, or a short ride on the number 29 Lothian Bus. As for the prices of the treatments, they’re significantly lower than city centre spas or those found inside upmarket hotels.

To an extent, you do get what you pay for in comparison to fancier spas – it’s not plush, and the interior is a bit ‘rough and ready’. The desk area is cluttered, the rooms very plain and a bit cramped. Soundproofing is a problem if you’re in a ground floor treatment room – my relaxing massage was a bit marred by being able to hear loud conversations in the reception area word for word, the phone ringing, and people walking up and down the corridor.

That aside, my therapist was very friendly and good at her job. I chose a 20/20/20 treatment, where you picked three treatments from a list so you could get a taste of a few different things in your 60 minute booking. The table was a little uncomfortable towards the end (it was the style where you put your face in a hole, and it wasn’t very padded) but the room itself was fit for purpose, if a little small. The candlelight and soft music helped relax me. In fact I was so relaxed at the end of my treatment that I almost floated home!

I only paid £50 for the hour’s treatment, which is fantastic value. I’ll definitely go back but will ask for a treatment room further away from the reception area so it’s a more peaceful experience. Also, it would be a nice touch to have your coat hung up for you – we passed a cloakroom on our way to the treatment room, yet I had to ask where I could put my coat when we got to the room. Just a wee thing that could improve the experience next time!

You float in a tank of salt water for an hour which is so relaxing. They do beauty treatments/alternative therapy too. You will find them on a side street in the upmarket New Town surrounded by an art gallery, upmarket shops and delis.

Hi,
Went with my husband, he tried floating( blown away!!! ) and I didn't fancy it, so chose a funny treatment called 20/20/20 which was really great and I enjoyed it sooooo much. However, I will dip my toe in the water, literally, to try floating as it really did the relaxation thing for him. The place is lovely, full stop.

If you’ve never had a 'float’- go NOW. Seriously. It’s amazing. After just one hour in the tank you feel as if you’ve enjoyed a good 8 hours quality sleep, and your skin feels amazing. Treat yourself to a massage or other therapy after- they are all quite cheap and there is a wide range.
Only 3 stars though as the place is looking very shabby.

The Edinburgh Floatarium Ltd is great wee find down Stockbridge. I was treated to a “float” by my wife. Now, whilst I didn’t quite get it..after all I was just lying in a pool of water in the darkness..it WAS relaxing and it’s not like I could recreate the experience at home in my bath tub. There is a wide range of treatements available and my wife attends regularly to sample those on offer..her favourite being the massages. They also offer vouchers which you can order over the telephone which they’ll post out to you (which is a bonus for those that don’t relish hitting the shops at Christmas Time!)
