went to Lancer's for a business lunch meal which was £8.50 for a 3 course meal, while the service was mediocre/bad and the food was ok, the portions were quite small and the 3rd course only consists of tea or coffee and not any other beverage as stated on their website. While trying to argue this point with the waiter I also realised he didn't understand English outside of the menu. I'd maybe come back to this place if it was very close to me but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, there are far better Indian restaurants in Edinburgh.

Lancers is my Indian Restaurant of choice in Edinburgh - admittedly partially because it is nice and handy in Stockbridge. The greeting is always very friendly and cheerful. The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere amongst diners is normally convivial and warm.
The food is great, the sauces live up to expectations and the portions are generous.
Lancers is well worth visiting, whether on a quiet night out with a partner, or as a slightly larger group.

A photo of Billy Connely’s historic visit to Lancers some years ago welcomes you in but despite this, the sit in experience won’t dissapoint. The food is of very high quality and the staff do try to look after you. Would get an extra star is takeways were served warmer!

Lancers in Stockbridge is somewhat of an Edinburgh institution and has won a number of awards including best Indian restaurant in Scotland. It’s been open for quite a few years and the interior is starting to look a little tired now. it’s perfectly clean and pleasant just not as pleasant as the food.

The service is pretty good, although was occasionally a little too keen.

Theres a fairly varied menu, with a large number of chicken dishes. A number of traditional favourites such as tandoori chicken and chicken jalfrezie as well as a good choice of everything between korma and vindaloo. A number of the dishes are available with either chicken, lamb or king prawn.

The lamb khatta tarkary (a sauce of chopped garlic and tomato) is absolutely amazing!

The portions were fairly large which means it’s good value for money, even though it’s a little pricey (mains were about £9-15).

A great curry house, there are some great specialities as well as the normal curries you would expect. The staff are attentive and friendly and make you feel relaxed from the moment you walk in. The meals are reasonably priced and the wine menu extensive and also reasonable.

This is a really great quality Indian restaurant. The dishes really do have great flavour, the lamb dansak being my personal favourite, and its no surprise that this is a much-loved and much-frequented Edinburgh institution. The sauces are rich, not too oily, and the attentive staff make sure you want for nothing.

If you appreciate good quality Indian food then Lancers is definitely the place for you.
