Good gym but no frills.  If you want to do more than work out then find somewhere else.  The equipment is of a good standard and there is enough of it any time i have been in.  Can always find someone to help if i need it.  Better than my previous dirty and cliquey gym,

Gym shower too hot.
The gym staff will actually tell you that the reason why water is too hot is because of diseases etc and they would encourage you to take shower at home rather than at the gym.
The shower water temperature is 48 degree, which is unbearable, and the reason why that is kept too high is to discourage you from using gym utilities to save their water + electricity bills as the low price gym has to cover their costs in their own way.

Pros:
- Low monthly
- 24 hour access

Cons:
- Over crowded
- 24 hours access is not really useful as all the gyms operate on ‘peak times’ phenomenon for a reason that most of the people get a free time from their busy day schedule around 4 to 8 in the evening.
- Out of order water cooler and only one unit available for WHOLE gym – Only 6 shower units
- No control of hot or cold water in showers, only one timer button. Very very hot water from the showers, on inquiry I discovered that they have intentionally put it on hot to kill disease. It is unbearably hot.

pure gym doesn't pay its staff to smile - in fact they don't pay their staff at all! their model is to get unsuspecting personal trainers to sign contracts that they will work 15 hours a week free in the gym, in order to have access to customers for personal training sessions. so, the staff are not paid staff of pure gym. and they leave pretty soon when they realise that there's no demand for personal training sessions in a dirt cheap gym! leaving management to use in some cases, work experience students to handle their customer service - hence you don't get any.

This gym is over crowded beyond belief. Don't be fooled by the price. Without exaggerating, you'll honestly get more exercise walking to it than you'll ever get inside it.

Throughly unimpressed with Pure Gym. Joined as we thought it would be a good stop gap until the Commy opened again, been once and will never go back. Yes it is only £16.99 a month but I'm sorry there has to be some standards! Nothing is provided to clean down equipment, no tissue or antibacterial spray. I watched countless very sweaty people simply leaving each peice of equipment dripping in their sweat with not even a slight thought of wiping down. Equipment is basic to say the least, I'm 6'2 and could barely fit on the bikes! Avoid at all costs, other facilities available in edinburgh for only £13 more, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE CHEAPNESS!!

Pure Gym is the best plain vanilla gym in Edinburgh. Central location, clean, 24/7 access, and - most importantly - an unbeatable price compared to other gyms in the city, especially if you're not a student. The management have been a bit joyless and standoffish in the few times I've had a question, and a few extra functional trainers would be appreciated, but no complaints otherwise.

Yes, its cheap, and there's usually plenty of spare capacity in the mornings when I go along.
BUT - Its not as clean as it was, 9 months on from opening - maybe because there are no facilities for cleaning up the equipment after yourself - no sprays or wipes.
AND - you may have to put up with two lots of different loud music playing at once if there is a spin class in progress.

I signed up for this gym before it opened due to the unbeatable price - £13 a month! All I want from my gym is access to the equipment and a locker to store my stuff and that's exactly what I get from this gym. Even at peak times there is enough cardio and weight equipment to go around. Only complaint from me is that it's not the easiest to get to.
