A CITY professor has been rewarded for his study into ageing workforces.
Professor Ronald McQuaid, from Napier University, received the award from The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) and Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland.
It will be used to help fund his workshop, entitled The Employability of Older People, which includes academics from as far afield as Harvard University.
Professor McQuaid said: "The ageing of the workforce is of great importance to the economy and wider society both now and in the future.
"A partial solution is to retain greater numbers of older people in the labour market, for example by encouraging tapering retirement through pension changes, raising the age of retirement, changing the workplace and work contracts.
"Currently, those aged from 50 years are among the most vulnerable groups in the workplace."
