AN AWARD named after the TV inventor John Logie Baird has been resurrected in a bid to encourage school and university dropouts to become the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Organisers say many top inventors and entrepreneurs never completed their studies.

All this means is what intelligent teachers knew all along: higher education is not for all and should never have been allowed to become to the sole path to success and status. They'd be saying it today if not for fear of yappie-yuppie parents and the heads and boards they intimidate, here and in Britain.

Of course dropouts can become geniuses - geniuses are born and nurtured, not simply made! A lot of dropouts are extremely intelligent people who were not intellectually challenged or encouraged and thus were disillusioned. Unfortunately, you cannot say this of all dropouts, nor can you say this of all geniuses, who do not realise their full potential.

#4 difficult to interpret your arcane comment but for your information Brown got the highest first class honours degree in history at Edinburgh University since WW2. Perhaps it helps to be really stupid to succeed in politics. I'm sure a really intelligent person would see too many sides of the argument, which appears to be Brown's problem.

"Get on with the job...er...the economy is strong...just want to get on with the job..." Gordon Brown really isn't that intelligent.


What kind of moron (or lying traitor) would sell 400 tonnes of our gold reserves off at the bottom of the market? He stole our pensions, taxed us into bankruptcy, then signed a treaty that hands our sovereignty over to a foreign power.

A trained monkey with a red rosette would have done a better job than Gordon the moron.
