EDINBURGH RUGBY'S drive to create an identity that differentiates the team from its fellow SRU-funded pro outfit Glasgow Warriors made further progress at Murrayfield when the Capital side unveiled a four-year shirt deal with rugby equipment manufacturer Rhino Rugby.
The agreement mans that Andy Robinson's men will no longer wear the same brand of shirts as their Glasgow counterparts.

Rhino Rugby, which is better known for its scrummaging machines and training equipment, has recently moved into shirt manufacturing.

Edinburgh media chief Andrew Sleight refused to reveal the financial terms of the deal but stressed that the desire to be different had formed a major part of the decision.

"One of the key objectives of our CEO Nic Cartwright in terms of identifying an apparel partner was the fact that we wanted to have some sense of uniqueness," he said. "We are already creating a strong brand image with the Castle logo that was introduced last year, and we wanted to stand out from the crowd. We will be the only team in the Magners League wearing Rhino Rugby apparel."

Who writes this drivel? "EDINBURGH RUGBY'S drive to create an identity that differentiates the team from its fellow SRU-funded pro outfit Glasgow Warriors made further progress..."???!!!

What? They've got new kit. Is this revelatory in the 10+ years both sides have been in existence (in different guises) over which time their kits have usually been different colours: Glasgow Blue/Black, Edinburgh Red/White/Black.

That first sentence in the article looks like a BLothianism.

Aye very good - new shirt manufacturer. But what will it do for performance?

Does whoever wrote this really think that people/supporters do not know the difference between Edinburgh and Glasgow pro rugby teams ?
Poor journalis surely !!

Thought Bill Lothian could have kept this "journo" right - yes ?

It's possible that it means Edinburgh has negotiated its own kit deal. Were both Glasgow's and Edinburgh's kits made by the same manufacturer last season (implying the SRU did the negotiating)?

Even so, hardly THE critical part of differentiating your time. And why write an article about it? Just more Bill-ithering rubbish.
