THE Edinburgh International Film Festival has announced another new award for this year's event.
The Mirrorball strand of the festival, which showcases the best music videos from around the world, will have an inaugural Best British Music Video Award.

The event will be kicked off this year with a live performance by acclaimed Brighton band British Sea Power.

It will be the first summer festival date for the band, on their return from a US tour. A second evening of live music during the festival will see top video DJ's and video artists performing.

It is the latest addition to the film festival, which is being held in June for the first time

Mirrorball programmer David Drummond said: "With our move to June in 2008, we have the freedom to host events in venues previously unavailable."
