Transport chief chuffed with extra trains

East Lothian Council has welcomed the extra trains that the Government has announced will run between Edinburgh and Dunbar on Saturdays from mid-December.

The additional train services in the county are among a number across Scotland announced by Transport Scotland and ScotRail as part of a new winter timetable.

The enhanced Edinburgh to Dunbar service will begin from December 15 and run from Edinburgh Waverley at 10.08, 12.08, 14.08 and 16.08; returning from Dunbar at 11.04, 13.04, 15.04, and 17.07. All the trains will stop at Musselburgh.

The council’s transport spokesman, Councillor Michael Veitch, said: “I welcome this improvement in train services which will be of great benefit to the residents of Dunbar, giving them better public transport options. Enhanced transport links should also lead to the town becoming more attractive for investment and job
opportunities.”
