Pedestrian’s leg crushed under lorry

A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital after his leg became trapped under the wheel of a cement mixer lorry.

He was struck by the vehicle in Orchard Brae at around 12.15pm yesterday.

Police, firefighters and ambulance personnel went to the scene.

The man, thought to be in his 50s, suffered a serious leg injury and was being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
