A1 section closed off due to police incident

A LARGE section of the A1 has been closed off due to a police incident on an overhead bridge in East Lothian.

Traffic has been halted in both directions between Prestonpans and Tranent as officers deal with an incident that sparked an alert at 1pm today.

Road blocks have been installed at Macmerry to prevent vehicles coming through Church Street, while road closures are also in place at Bridge Street in Tranent.

It is not known when the arterial route will reopen to traffic.
