Tennis: County Cup successes for Eastern outfits

EAST tennis men and women have both made winning starts to their annual AEGON Summer County Cup campaigns.

Both are in respective  Division Threes and for the women, squeezing past Norfolk  5-4 means they can gain  momentum today against  Dorset, 0-9 losers to Berkshire.

Mhairi Brown/Sonia Vickers as well as Aisha Kerr/Sarah Mcfadyen won twice but a crucial result was a 6-0, 6-2 demolition job by Liana Park and Emma Devine. For the men, who beat Essex 6-3, Blackhall teenager Euan McIntosh earned his spurs with two wins partnering Sam McNeill, while Graeme Dyce and Alan Macdonald were unbeaten. Euan Bell and Stuart Crerar got the other win.
