Solid results earn Taylor a nomination

Capital cyclist Neil Taylor has earned his reward for a string of good results with a nomination as Edinburgh Road Club rider of the month.

Taylor bagged third spot in a high-class field at the Thornton Trophy road race in Northumberland and was runner-up in the Moray Firth stage race after posting a win on the first stage.

And he clinched the award with a series of solid performances that gave him seventh spot overall in the Alpine Bikes Criterium Series.

Taylor becomes the latest recipient of the prize, sponsored by Field & Lawn Marquees and The Tri Centre, which is designed to encourage talented riders at the 600-member club to progress and improve.

Cameron Stewart, managing director of Field & Lawn Marquees, is delighted to be playing a part in supporting the club’s development of future stars, particularly in the wake of the resounding success recorded by Britain’s cyclists at the London Olympic Games.

He said: “With the depth of cyclists at all levels, young and old, Edinburgh Road Club are developing cyclists for future Olympics and international events.

“Focus now turns to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where British teams are expected to perform well again.”
