Jillie Cooper and Robert Blair march on

EDINBURGH’S Jillie Cooper and Longniddry’s Robert Blair reached today’s quarter-finals of the mixed doubles at the Scottish International Championships in Glasgow.

Cooper and Blair have only been in tandem for five tournaments, but they easily overcame Germany’s Raphael Beck and Alina Hammes 21-15, 21-16.

Cooper, who won the women’s doubles in 2008, said: “Robert and I have only been together since the All-England in March, but we’ve beaten a few good couples.”

Blair, who played for England before reverting to Scotland a couple of years ago, won the missed doubles with Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier in 2007.

In the quarter-finals, Cooper and Blair face Danish No. 3 seeds, Anders Kristiansen and Julie Houmann.
