Cycling: Haston keen to give her British Masters jersey an airing
Capital cyclist Louise Haston will be hoping for an upturn in the weather so that she can maintain her challenge for the women’s title in the Meadowbank National Track League tonight.
The City of Edinburgh rider, a convert from athletics, currently shares top spot with youngster Katie Archibald of Edinburgh Racers.
However, Haston will have an added desire to see action so that she can display the British Masters champion’s jersey she earned over the weekend at Newport where she landed two gold medals and three silvers.
Meanwhile, another Capital rider, Callum Skinner, was due to kick off his bid for a potential medal treble at the European Under-23 Championships in Portugal today when he linked up with Pete Mitchell and Kian Emadi to contest the team sprint.
Skinner and Mitchell were members of last year’s silver medal winning line-up, together with Philip Hindes, who is absent this year to prepare for the London Olympics.
Nineteen-year-old Skinner also took bronze in the individual sprint 12 months ago and will hope to improve on that result, but will be keen to avoid a repeat of events in the Keirin, which ended for him with a painful crash.
