Bowls: Double success for Pilrig in the District 11 semi-finals

Pilrig celebrated a double success in the Edinburgh District 11 bowls semi-finals of the national championships featuring the Pairs and Triples played at Dudley.

Darren McKenny skipped Chris Steven to a 26-11 win over Jim and Colin Hutchison of Goldenacre, having punished the father and son partnership with a run of 2, 1, 4, 2, 3 from 4-7 to 16-7.

Scott Noble caused a formbook upset by skipping Graeme Hislop and Keith Mitchell from 6-9 to a 14-10 win over Craigentinny big guns Craig McCall, Gordon Bold and Willie McDonald.

Tanfield advanced their cause in the Pairs with Stuart McKean and Robert White adding 2, 2, 6 to lead 20-7 then beat Mark Fyfe and Paul Jeronsom of Summerside, 24-10.

Summerside fared better in the Triples with Grant Abercrombie, Mark Wilson and Keith Taylor crossing from 1-6 to 13-6 with a run of 1, 2, 2, 7 then defeating Stuart Stevens, Gordon Preston and Rab Napier of Queensberry, 16-12.
