Rugby: Ian Nimmo to join Newport Gwent Dragons
Former Heriot’s second row Ian Nimmo is set to finally enter Pro 12 rugby next season after signing a contract today for Newport Gwent Dragons.
The 6ft 7in and 19st Nimmo joined Edinburgh Rugby in 2005 from Leicester on the back of playing 18 out of the 20 matches undertaken by Scotland under-21s in the preceding two years.
But Nimmo never played for the Capital pro outfit and joined Heriot’s before moving in 2007 to Coventry then on to Nottingham and Cornish Pirates.
Last seaon Nimmo, now 26, played 21 games for Pirates and it remains to be seen if playing in the Pro 12 against Edinburgh and Glasgow might resurrect his representative career.
