From rugby hero to net star as Visser launches website

In WHAT is believed to be a ground-breaking move for Scottish rugby, Tim Visser today became the first player to launch his own website.

The 25-year-old used social media to herald the innovation, saying: “Have a look on my new website www.timvisserrugby.com for all the news on the tour and my season with Edinburgh!”

Dutch-born winger Visser’s timing is immaculate as the move, which is sure to be welcomed as a means of further heightening the profile of Edinburgh and Scottish rugby, comes in the same month that he qualified to represent Scotland under a three-year residency rule and marked his debut with try brace in a tour win over Fiji.

The site provides details of Visser’s rugby background as well as his achievements – and there is an opportunity to enjoy once again last week’s Evening News exclusive regarding a possible return to his homeland for a glamour fixture in December, with details of his second cap, against Samoa, expected to be added soon.

Other prominent Scottish sportsmen to have their own websites include Andy Murray and Sir Chris Hoy.

Meanwhile, Scotland prop Kyle Traynor, capped three times, will look to resurrect his career with English Championship side Bristol next season after moving on from Edinburgh.

Farnborough-born Traynor said: “I’m delighted to make the move to Bristol, a club with a great reputation and huge ambitions. I’ve heard outstanding things about the strong culture and style of rugby at the club.”

Bristol coach Liam Middleton said: “He is an excellent professional with good athletic ability and physical potential.”
