Party ‘ruling nothing out’
TODAY’s launch of Labour’s council election manifesto marks the start of the battle for control of the City Chambers.
Under the Single Transferable Vote system, where voters number candidates in order of preference and each ward elects three or four councillors, no party is fielding enough candidates to win overall control. So the most likely outcome is a coalition. Labour today did not rule out working with any other party.
Andrew Burns said: “There could be a minority council, but the likelihood is there will be a coalition. The decision is one for the voters, but I’m not ruling out any option.”
