John Gibson: Get on to the Leith jazz train
Revivalists. The Leith Jazz and Blues Festival last held in 1999, is coming back this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to midnight.
Fourteen pubs around the Shore have put their pints together for the revival and Calum Mackay, landlord at the Malt and Hops, is a prime mover of the event.
Call him at 555 0083 for details.
Altered roots
Good-natured Jim Williamson informs me that he is not at all related to his namesake, mistakenly pictured in my item about St Mary’s Street florists Williamsons, and he stresses that he is currently the Scottish branch chairman of the National Vegetable Society.
May all his brussels sprout in profusion this winter and I trust the decamped St Mary’s Street staff have resettled comfortably at their Corstorphine branch.
Afterwords . .
. . .the usually boot-faced Posh, I hear, has been snapped actually smiling. “I created this persona but I am very different from that. I don’t feel I have to scream and shout about it. I know I am a happy person. So I don’t get upset when people comment on the fact that I look quite miserable all the time. And, you know, sometimes I think the same thing when I look at the pictures.”
