I LIKE to think that I’m a good person – who among us doesn’t? I give money to charity every month, I don’t kick dogs or even cats, and I’m more than capable of enjoying the company of people with opposing political views to mine.

THERE’S a lot of fun poked at Midlothian Council. If it’s not a provost buying an expensive kilt out of council coffers and then declaring not only that he had “eff all to answer for” but that his clothing allowance wasn’t large enough, it’s a demand for the Tartan Army to be considered bigoted against the English, or it’s the bizarre fallings in and out of the SNP group and its leaders currently running the council.

THERE was a story earlier this week which received little notice given that it didn’t involve the retirement of a football manager or an elderly lady reading out a Daily Mail editorial in the House of Lords. The number of people who needed urgent debt help after taking out a payday loan doubled last year.

Gina Davidson: Courts need to support cyclists
ON Monday I met two brave women. Not that they’d refer to themselves in such a way, but as we drank coffee together and their tight smiles relaxed into proper grins while they reminisced about a young man they had both once known, their bravery began to show.
