Young golfers get in swing

MORE than 500 young golfers from around the world are in East Lothian today for the biggest junior golf event ever to be held in Europe.

The US Kids Golf European Championship has attracted competitors from more than 50 countries. The youngest is just five years old.

Sports Minister Shona Robison was visiting the tournament at Gullane today.

Organisers say their aim is to encourage youngsters to forge friendships through sport.

The three-day event will give an estimated £1.3 million boost to the East Lothian economy.
